Pourpoint Charles de Blois

The doublet of Charles de Blois is preserved at the Museum of Textiles in Lyon, France.
The garment dates from 1364, several miniatures show similar garments throughout the second half of the 14th century, and it seems to last a little into the early 15th century.
It has many buttons on the sleeves and on the central opening.
It comes down quite low (it will cover the  braies) and has points fixed on the lining side to attach tailed hose.
It is distinctive in sculpting the silhouette with a slim waist and a rounded chest, and in having so-called “grande assiette” sleeves, with armholes that reach very far towards the centre of the chest.
This type of garment could be worn in both civilian and military dress.
There seem to have been many variants (lacing at the bottom and buttoning on the chest), with or without buttons on the sleeves, etc.

The model offered here is machine-sewn; on request I can provide a quote for visible hand-sewn seams.
The outer fabric is wool, the padding is made of several layers and pieces (thin padding on the sleeves, thick on the chest, thin at the waist), the lining is natural-coloured linen.

A live measurement and one or even two fittings are necessary for this type of garment.
