The shirt is an undergarment. It is worn throughout the Middle Ages.
Its fullness, and therefore the number of gores, can vary depending on the status of the wearer.
The sleeves and collars adapt to the fashion of the garments worn over it.
For a good part of the 14th & 15th centuries, the neckline is round (it can be slit for breastfeeding women), and the ease gores sit lower than in the 13th century, towards the waist.
