The coule is a garment worn by monks.
Natural-coloured wool will be preferred as it is less expensive.
It most often has a hood and wide sleeves; early depictions can be found with short sleeves, slit at the sides, or with different lengths.
In some late sources, it seems that a hood-style hood was preferred over a built-in hood.
