Cotte-hardie (50 buttons)

The exact name of this garment is not really known.
The term cotte-hardie is often used today to designate it, although it is not known exactly what it refers to in the sources. It is not known for certain whether it was a garment worn over a shirt or a surcoat worn over a tunic.
It appears around 1335 and gradually disappears towards the end of the 14th century. Its name survives until the middle of the 15th century, but by then it was probably a different garment.
It is a garment fitted on the bust that flares out from the hips.
Its length seems to be between the knee and mid-thigh. It is buttoned at the front and on the forearms.
