15th-century dress (wool)

This dress is a cotte called a “corset” in 15th-century inventories. It was probably meant to support the bust.
It is worn directly over the long-sleeved shirt. Its lacing allows a perfect fit.
It is a good option for people whose weight changes regularly, and in particular for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
It can have long or short sleeves.
With the short-sleeved version, you can add removable sleeves that pin on, visible here.
It was worn across all social classes. The richer the wearer, the more saturated the colour and the greater the fullness at the bottom of the dress.
